Uber rides into its 4th city – the tourist resort of Cox’s Bazar, in Bangladesh

Uber today launched operations in the tourist resort of Cox’s Bazar, making it the 4th Bangladeshi city after Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet, where riders can now book UberXL and MOTO services by downloading the Uber app.

The launch of Uber services in Cox’s Bazar will offer affordable, reliable, and convenient transportation access to riders, and livelihood opportunities for drivers.

Ratul Ghosh, Head of Bangladesh & East India, Uber said, “We are delighted to announce our foray in Cox’s Bazar, the heart of tourism in Bangladesh. With this launch, both residents and tourists will have a reliable and economical travel solution to experience the city fully with UberMoto and UberXL till Innani and Ramu. Those who sign up as driver-partners will have opportunities to earn more and flexibility to plan their work schedule. In 2019, riders from 76 countries had used Uber while visiting Bangladesh. We are excited to contribute to the potential of this new city and optimistic that citizens and tourists will give us a warm welcome.”

Uber has launched several safety products so that before, during, and after trips, riders feel safe. There is an emergency number that connects riders to law enforcement, an in-app safety toolkit, and updated Community Guidelines, which outline the behavior expected of riders and drivers on the app to foster mutual respect. To ensure seamless post-trip assistance, Uber has invested in a 24/7 safety response team and a dedicated law enforcement response team for assisting police with any information they might need.

Getting started with Uber is easy:

  • Download the app – Get the free Uber app from the App Store or Google Play on your smartphone and open the app to create your account.
  • Request a ride – Enter your destination and choose a ride option. You’ll always see the price upfront.
  • Enjoy your ride – You’ll see your driver’s picture and vehicle details, and can track their arrival on the map.

About Uber:

Uber’s mission is to create opportunities through movement. We started in 2010 to solve a simple problem: how do you get access to a ride at the touch of a button? More than 15 billion trips later, we’re building products to get people closer to where they want to be. By changing how people, food, and things move through cities, Uber is a platform that opens up the world to new possibilities.
