The court on Tuesday has ordered to send the controversial face of popular video app ‘TikTok’ Yasin Arafat alias Apu, known as ‘Ofu Bai’ on social media, to jail, rejecting his remand petition.
Police appealed for a three-day remand for further questioning. However, after the hearing, the judge rejected the remand petition and ordered to send him to jail.
Earlier on Sunday, Apu beat a man on the road in Alaul Avenue area of Sector 6 under Uttara East police station. The victim filed a case with the police station.
Later, the police arrested him in a raid on Monday evening. Following the news of Apu’s arrest, social media users have expressed their satisfaction.
It is worth to be mentioned that Apu came into the wide discussion by making various distorted videos on the Chinese app ‘TikTok’. There are allegations of creating a new ‘gang culture’ on social media against several TikTokers including Apu and Mamun.
Apu has been charged with blocking the road and beating the plaintiff with a sharp weapon, causing bloody injuries, theft and threatening.
