2.5 Lakh Youth to Receive Six Types of Training Free of Cost, Along with Monthly Allowance

The government will provide Enterprise-Based Training (EBT) free of cost. Following the principle of “training where the job is,” the initiative aims to transform young people who are outside education, training, and employment into a skilled workforce through technical training and help them enter the job market.

The program will be implemented under a project titled “Accelerating and Strengthening Skills for Economic Transformation (ASSET).” The Enterprise-Based Training (EBT) program will begin on 1 April 2026. Through this initiative, young people across the country will receive hands-on technical training, delivered through a collaboration between industrial factories and training institutions. Women and members of disadvantaged communities will receive priority. All trainees must have a National Identity Card (NID), and successful participants will receive government certificates after completing the training.

According to the official notice, the government plans to train 222,500 people through around 700 factories and training institutions under 33 industry partners. So far, about 50,000 trainees have already completed training, and approximately 90% of them have secured decent employment, according to the notice. The training activities are being conducted under the supervision of industry skills councils, industry organizations, and chambers of commerce, with direct leadership from industrial establishments.

Financial Benefits for Trainees

The training will be fully funded by the government. Participants will receive practical, skill-based training directly in factories or production environments.

Individuals aged 18 to 45 who are currently outside education, training, or employment can participate.

Trainees will also receive financial support:

General trainees: Monthly allowance of 1,500 BDT

Women, persons with disabilities, and members of small ethnic communities: 2,000 BDT per month

Travel allowance: Up to 100 BDT per day, with a maximum of 2,500 BDT per month

Types of Free Training Programs

Under this project, six types of training programs will be offered free of cost:

3-day EMTP Soft Skills Training – for owners, CEOs, and managers of industrial establishments.

14-day MMTP Soft Skills Training – for mid-level managers of industrial establishments.

21-day SUTP Technical Skills Training – for skill development of workers currently employed in industries.

3-month EDTP Technical Skills Training – for NEET youth (not in education, employment, or training). Half of the training will take place in institutions and the other half in factories as apprenticeship opportunities.

3-month TSTP Technical Skills Training – training conducted directly in factories.

6-month IHTP Technical Skills Training – industry-based training. A trainee may also take advanced training in the same occupation or course.

Classes Begin

The next batch of this training program will start on 1 April 2026.
