Popular short video-sharing platform TikTok recently organised a campaign titled ‘#ShadhinotarGolpo’ (Story of Independence) to commemorate Bangladesh’s 51st Independence Day on March 26. The in-app campaign allowed users to celebrate and share their love for Bangladesh in creative ways.
The engaging #ShadhinotarGolpo campaign took place on TikTok from 22nd to 31st March, 2022 with the tagline, ‘আপনার গল্পের মাধ্যমে ছড়িয়ে দিন স্বাধীনতার আহবান’ (Spread the message of freedom through your story). As Bangladesh’s Independence Day is characterised by numerous ceremonial events, the creators were encouraged to share their inspired thoughts about the country’s history and independence through innovative means.
TikTok’s Independence Day campaign included the introduction of in-app content such as the ‘Shadhinotar Golpo’ effect, which allowed users to place the National Martyrs’ Monument (Jatiyo Sriti Shoudho) sticker in their videos. The music playlist included popular soundtracks such as ‘Joy Bangla Banglar Joy’, ‘Purbo Digonte Shurjo Utheche’, etc. which users could incorporate into their videos to showcase their love for the country.
The #ShadhinotarGolpo campaign drew a staggering 135 million views on TikTok and included the participation of renowned celebrities and top content creators such as Afra Mimo, Rothey Ahmed, Noureen Afrose Piya, Enayet Chowdhury, among others.
