The victim, 15-year old ‘Rekha’ of Manirampur Upazila was a Grade-VIII student at Tangramari High School.
She was married to construction worker Jahirul Islam of Jessore’s Kharhki locality on Nov 19. Rekha’s father Abdus Salam said poverty forced him to marry off his daughter but his son-in-law demanded Tk 40,000 in dowry several days later.
