Basis and BCS One Bangladesh Vision is now far ahead

Leveraging ICT for Growth (LICT) project of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) is working jointly with BASIS to achieve the goal of One Bangladesh for the development of IT and ITES sector of Bangladesh.

Research institute Tholons and Aon Hewitt has also been associated with this project. A workshop entitled “One Bangladesh Uniting Vision” was held to aware the stakeholders for achieving the vision. The workshop was held at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon, Dhaka.

BASIS president Mr. Shameem Ahsan declared that BASIS is now far ahead to make the One Bangladesh Vision into reality. Digital World 2014 and BASIS Softexpo has been organized in Public Private Partnership through which the development of ICT sector of Bangladesh is shown throughout the world. Fenox Fenture Capital has already invested in Bangladesh. Moreover, Investment AB Kinnevik of Switzerland, SNT Classified, Roket Internet of Norway and many other renowned companies of the world have invested in the ICT sector of Bangladesh. The companies are earning 4/5 times profit benefit. BASIS Institute of Technology Management and LICT project of BCC has started to train 23 thousand IT professional.

The Executive Director of BCC Mr. Ashraful Islam added that the present government aims to develop our country as a middle income country emphasizing on the ICT sector. Earning 1 billion US$ will be possible with the collaborative effort of ICT Division, BCC, BASIS and all stakeholders of this sector. BCC, ICT Division will support in this issue.

The former president of BASIS AKM Fahim Mashroor, Mr. Rafiqul Islam Rowly, Senior Vice President Mr. Russell T. Ahmed, Executive Director Mr. Sami Ahmed, Joint Secretary of ICT Division Mr. Shyama Prasad Bepari and Project Director of LICT project Mr. Rezaul Karim delivered speech on the program.

They emphasized on preparing a reliable report on the ICT sector of Bangladesh and need of collective effort of all the stakeholders of the sector.
