Bangladeshi ‘Women in Tech’ are travelling to China

The three winners of Huawei’s flagship competition “Women in Tech” are set to embark on the next phase of their journey as they travel to China. They will attend International Digital Energy Expo (IDEE) 2024 Sessions, visit exhibition halls and learn from Huawei experts at Huawei HQ & Dongguan campus between 3-10 September 2024.

The Women in Tech winners are Safrina Kabir, Mahmuda Nayem and Sumaiya Tarique Labiba. Of the three winners, Sumaiya Tarique Labiba is a design verification engineer at sBIT Limited, and Mahmuda Nayem, Researcher and Coordinator at FOREWARN Bangladesh and Safrina Kabir is an EEE student from the Islamic University of Technology (IUT).

Pan Junfeng, President of Huawei South Asia and CEO of Huawei Bangladesh, said, “Huawei aims to close the gender gap in STEM fields by championing young female talents and inspire young minds to pursue a successful career in technology. We strongly believe Bangladeshi women have world-class talent to perform in the international arena. Women in Tech is committed to giving the winners an inspiring global exposure so that they can contribute to the growth of Bangladesh.”

Inspired by the theme “Tech for Her, Tech by Her, Tech with Her,” the competition was launched for the first time in Bangladesh last year, With UNESCO as the strategic partner. 18 were selected for the final round from 750 participants. These Three winners emerged victorious from the final round.

Huawei’s ‘Women in Tech’ initiative aims to bridge the gender gap in STEM fields by empowering women through education, mentorship, and exposure to global technological advancements. The program has inspired hundreds of young women across the world to pursue careers in technology and entrepreneurship, aligning with Huawei’s vision of a fully connected, intelligent world.
