Windmill launched ‘Babytika’ in Bangladesh

Babytika’ the first ever Vaccination Information System (VIS) and a mobile based alert service in Bangladesh has been officially launched. ‘Babytika’ has a mobile App and Health portal solely developed by Windmill Infotech Limited. It is already available on Apple and Android store for download and the portal is available at www.babytika.org for parents. The system will provide free vaccine reminder service for a child from birth till 12 years of age just by registering the child through SMS or downloading the app.

National Professor Dr. M R Khan was present as the Chief Guest in the Inauguration ceremony, along with Professor Dr. Abul Kalam Azad, Director MIS, DGHS, Professor Dr. Mohammod Shahidullah, President, Bangladesh Pediatric Association (BPA), Professor M. A. K. Azad Chowdhury, Secretary General, BPA as Special Guests. Mr. Mustafa Jabbar, prominent IT personality was also present as Guest of Honor. The Event was presided by Bushra Alam, Chief Executive Officer of Windmill Infotech Limited.

The mobile application (both in IOS and Android platform) will help urban parents to download the application and register their children for vaccination alert service. Parents can fix calendars for due dates, set customize alarms for each vaccine and also can browse some tips and to do list for good parenting. Parents without smart phone can also register themselves by sending an SMS to 7171 assigning the child’s name and date of birth. Once send, they will receive a confirmation message. After the registration process, SMS will be send to the registered mobile number for all due vaccination of that child. There will be three reminders at two-day intervals for each vaccination due.

“We believe this service will assist our rural health workers and parents to be more vigilant about child’s vaccine dates and will reduce vaccination drop-out rates of Bangladesh”-Bushra Alam, the CEO of Windmill Infotech Limited expressed her opinion during the event. She also added that at present in the world, only due to proper alert system and information service, a significant number of parents fail to complete all dozes of vaccination on due time. It is not always the question of availability or cost but simply lack of awareness, which prevents our goal in achieving cent percentage coverage of vaccination in these countries. To attend these global challenges and with an aim to support full immunization coverage, Windmill Infotech Limited, an ISO certified IT intervention for social good has initiated “babytika” – free vaccination reminder service for a child from birth till 12 years of age. Babytika has covered the list vaccines under the universal immunization program besides some additional other vaccines recommended by Bangladesh Pediatrics Association (BPA) to complete the information system.

According to the organization, Babytika is a complete Vaccine Information System, which will also support health workers and rural health service providers to manage their vaccine stock, inventory, vaccine forecasting and also will assist their cold chain management. The cloud based web portal of babytika can be accessed from anywhere to manage any institution or health centers’ all vaccination data, patients information and upcoming all requirements from a simple single dash board.
