ShopUp Reimagines Embedded SME Financing for the New World

The largest technology conference in the region, ‘Web Summit Qatar-2024’ was held in Qatar’s capital Doha recently.

Afeef Zaman, Founder and CEO of ShopUp, the largest B2B commerce platform in Bangladesh, was invited to speak at the event.

Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani was present at the summit along with more than 400 investors and dignitaries from different countries.

The aim of the conference was to connect with the talented minds of the world of innovation and discuss globally impactful technology issues.

Afeef Zaman delivered a keynote speech as a thought leader where he focused on the potential of tech-embedded financing to revolutionize the economic landscape of emerging markets.

Based on real-world economic activities, this model aims to align the interests of financiers and recipients, offering a new scope for scaling the solution through technology.

Afeef Zaman, Founder and CEO of ShopUp, said, “There’s a new world being created. These are countries in MENA, South Asia, Southeast Asia.

These countries have been growing 5 to 6 times faster than the developed world. The SMEs are the actual cornerstone of the economic prosperity of these regions.

We want them to be in the driving seat of the growth of these regions as well.”

Zaman’s presentation on driving growth in emerging markets through ShopUp’s business model was well-received by investors and audiences alike.

The entrepreneur gave an idea of how a commercial platform can play a role in changing the lives of people in the emerging market of 1 billion new consumers, especially in the Gulf region.
