Because a numbers of spice warehouses for chilli, turmeric, onion and the like are alongside the lane. A very old house full of twist and turns, named Panchbari, is located in the area. Though the house is dilapidated, locals still dwell in it.

A little sculpture inscribed Dhaka and the word Old made up of bricks are in front of the building. Both pieces of art depict Old Dhaka.
