MICROSOFT DEVICES AND GRAMEENPHONE SIGN STRATEGIC PARTNER MOU

Microsoft Mobile Devices & Services (MMDS) Bangladesh and Grameenphone Limited have entered into a strategic alliance in a bid to provide consumers with integrated telecommunication solutions. The alliance is expected to offer complete telecommunications solution for individuals and business customers.

Under the MOU, customers will be provided with a complete business solution which will include Microsoft devices, MS Office, and other services. Grameenphone will provide special annual subscription plans with internet offers bundled with Microsoft devices, which will be available through their retail network as well as open distribution channels. Special after sales services will also be given to Grameenphone customers under the MOU.

The joint cooperation between the two companies will add value in promoting Microsoft devices and use of smartphones with internet as Grameenphone is directing its efforts to provide “Internet for All” in Bangladesh. The purpose of this joint venture is to provide universal mobile phone access throughout Bangladesh, including rural areas.

Commenting on the MOU, Allan Bonke, Chief Marketing Officer, Grameenphone Limited, said that “the partnership ties-in very closely with Grameenphone’s ‘Internet for All’ ambition where we can ensure a quality range of smart data-ready devices for customers. We have recently introduced new data packages that are extremely competitive both in terms of value and speed, backed by our 10MHz 3G network – Microsoft devices will bring all of this together for GP customers.”

Sandeep Gupta, Country General Manager, MMDS Bangladesh said, “As demand in Bangladesh’s mobile segment continues to grow, Microsoft remains committed to delivering market-leading mobile innovation at each and every price point. This alliance is an achievement for us, both as we share similar ideologies, and thus have placed complete faith in this association in a bid to promote mobile phone advancements in the country.” The strategic alliance is a perfect fit with the philosophy of both companies and will enable them both to provide improved communication opportunities to Bangladeshis in an affordable package
