MALIHA M QUADIR honored with the Best ICT Women Entrepreneur Award

Maliha M Quadir, Founder and Managing Director of Shohoz, received the Best Women Entrepreneur Award by the ICT Ministry earlier yesterday. The award was presented by the Honorable Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center at the 3rd Digital Bangladesh Day 2019 ceremony.

Recognized as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, Maliha is a passionate and responsible entrepreneur with a track record of promoting growth through technology and access to finance. Her multi-faceted contribution towards the vision of Digital Bangladesh, and to the socio-economic development of the country, has been consistently recognized throughout her career. Previously, she had been awarded with Business Innovation Award at the American Alumni Association (AAA) Awards 2019, the prestigious DYDF Youth Icon Award (Entrepreneurship Category) 2019, and The Daily Star ICT Award and many more.

It should be noted that ‘Digital Bangladesh’ was the headline of the vision that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced for the year 2021, and the announcement of the digital revolution came on December 12, 2008. The day has been celebrated as Digital Bangladesh Day since the year 2018.

Maliha M Quadir has extensive and diverse work experiences in the global arena. She led the emerging markets digital strategy of multinational companies such as Vistaprint and Nokia from their offices in Singapore. Prior to moving into technology, Maliha honed her career in finance, having worked for Standard Chartered (Debt Capital Markets) in Singapore, and Morgan Stanley (Investment Banking) in New York and San Francisco. Maliha completed her MBA from Harvard Business School, and her Bachelors in Computer science and Economics from Smith College in the US.

Maliha moved back to Bangladesh during 2014, and started Shohoz with a simple vision of solving the logistical challenge her country was facing. Well-established global investors believed in Maliha and her vision, and backed Shohoz by investing in the company. Under Maliha’s leadership, Shohoz has now become the largest online service platform in the country, providing online ticketing, ride-sharing, food delivery and truck booking services to millions of Bangladeshi consumers. Shohoz has simplified the everyday life of Bangladeshis with the help of numerous services available in their platform, creating thousands of jobs and contributing to the country’s economic development.
