Information Ministry opens media centre for polls

The Information Ministry today opened a media centre at Sonargaon hotel to disseminate the 11th national election-related information and including its results.

“The media centre at Sonargaon hotel will remain open for 24 hours till December 31 in three shifts where seven officials will work in each shift . Journalists can use the information disseminated by the media centre,” Information Secretary Abdul Malek told at a press conference at Sonargaon hotel today.

He also said Bangladesh Television will live telecast election results provided by the Election Commission through two digital screens from the media centre, adding there are also available two helpline numbers for collecting the polls related information. “These two numbers will be informed tomorrow,” he added.

Moreover, the foreign embassies in Dhaka will also be informed about the media centre by issuing letters so that they can contact with the media centre for any information required.

Separate booths will also be set up at the airport to assist foreigners, according to the Information ministry sources.

Besides, a total of nine officials will work in each shift of the ‘Rumor Identification Cell’. Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque was present on the occasion.
