Walton manufactures eco-friendly appliance: Environment Minister

Terming the manufacturing process and the overall environment of Walton factory as fully impressive, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry Md. Shahab Uddin noted that Walton is manufacturing good quality and eco-friendly products within Bangladesh.

“If some more industries like Walton have been established in Bangladesh, no one can hinder the country’s economic progress,” the minister made the remarks after visiting Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited (WHIL) at Chandra in Gazipur on Saturday (19 October, 2019).

Walton is manufacturing various sorts of appliances maintaining all the necessary policies relating to the environment protection, mentioning it Shahab Uddin said, they are making outstanding contribution to the national economy through earning foreign currencies through exporting locally made goods to different countries after meeting the domestic demands.

The environment minister also assured the local brand of providing all kinds of government assistances.

On Saturday morning, WHIL’s Vice-Chairman SM Shamsul Alam welcomed the environment minister, along with his entourage, to the premises of Walton factory with a flower bouquet.

During his visit to WHIL, Environment Forest and Climate Change Ministry’s Secretary Abdullah Al Mohsin Chowdhury, Internal Resources Division’s Deputy Secretary Sultana Afrose, Environment Division’s Director General Dr. AKM Rafique Ahammed, Director Md. Ziaul Haque and Additional Secretary Dr. SM Manjurul Hannan Khan, BSTI Director General Muazzem Hossain, were present.

After that, the delegates visited the well-decorated display center and then inspected several manufacturing units such as fridge, metal casting, compressor, effluent treatment plant etc.

Among others, Walton Group’s Executive Directors SM Zahid Hasan, Humayun Kabir, Uday Hakim, Alamgir Alam Sarker and Yusuf Ali, Deputy Executive Directos Shahjada Salim and Sharif Harunur Rashid, Operative Director Tawfique-Ul-Quader, Additional Operative Director Sohel Rana, Media Adviser, Enayet Ferdous, Senior Additional Director Mohsin Ali Molla and other officials of the company were present.

While visiting WHIL, Environment Secretary Abdullah Al Mohsin Chowdhury said, the government with the assistance of UNDP is implementing the world’s first HFC phase out project in the fridge manufacturing unit of Walton.
