A girl who is a US citizen has flown to Bangladesh to tie the knot with a boy of Sylhet who introduced themselves through a social media website.
The groom is Abdul Ahad, son of Md Abdul Kadir and Minara Begum, of Shahi Eidgah Hazaribagh of Sylhet while the bride is Ingrid Jeaneth, a US nurse in California, daughter of late Robam Ling Mensil and Franaisca Growthriam.
They introduced themselves three months ago through Facebook and continued communications through Skype.
At one stage, they fell in love and decided to get married.
“I was first introduced to her through a social media site about three months ago,” Ahad said.
“We continued our communications through Skype and at one stage we felt that we had fallen in love with each other. So, we decided to tie the knot.”
To get married to Ahad, Ingrid landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 5:55am on October 30, Ahad said, adding receiving her at the airport, we came to Sylhet by US Bangladesh Airlines on the day.
“On Sunday, we finally got married,” he affirmed.
She is on a 15 days vacation and will return to her country on November 13, the groom said.
“Ingrid brought some documents for me to take me along with her to the United States,” Ahad said joyfully.
