Uber partners with BRAC to train driver partners on road safety

Uber, the world’s largest mobility company, has partnered with BRAC, an
international development organisation based in Bangladesh, to organise educational workshops on
road safety for driver partners in Dhaka. This initiative is a part of the recently launched Road Safety
campaign by Uber in Bangladesh, that reiterates the company’s #SafetyAtHeart commitment.
The objective of organising these workshops is to create awareness among driver partners that will
ultimately lead to improved on-road safety standards.
Through these workshops, BRAC will impart a structured and institutional training aimed at sensitising
driver partners on road safety and defensive driving techniques. This will include modules on Road
Safety Knowledge, Civic Responsibility, Traffic signs and signals, Lane discipline and driving, and ‘Do’s
and Don’ts’ of road safety regulations.
“At Uber, we are committed to constantly evolve and innovate towards solving for rider and driver
partners safety concerns,” said Zulquar Quazi Islam, Lead, Uber Bangladesh. “Our partnership with
BRAC Road Safety Programme is an effective way of sensitising driver partners on Uber platform on the
road traffic system and rules, thereby ensuring a better and safer experience for everyone.”
Commenting on the training programme, Dr. Kamran Ul Baset, Program Head, BRAC Road Safety
Program, said, “BRAC has always been there to inspire something good. Safety and security on roads has
been a prime concern in Bangladesh for quite sometimes and it’s great to see that ridesharing companies
like Uber are coming forward to arrange short training for their driver partners. We’ll keep supporting
initiatives like this.”
The training sessions- held at BRAC Learning Center in Ashkona- will be delivered in Bangla, and will use
varied interactive methods like focused group discussions, brainstorming sessions, and audio-visuals, to
get the message across. This will be followed by a Question Pause Name (QPN) session wherein the
driver partners can ask their questions to the trainers.

About Uber
Uber’s mission is to create opportunity through movement. We started in 2010 to solve a simple
problem: how do you get access to a ride at the touch of a button? More than 10 billion trips later,
we're building products to get people closer to where they want to be. By changing how people, food,
and things move through cities, Uber is a platform that opens up the world to new possibilities.
