South Asia’s Largest ICT Expo BASIS SoftExpo 2020 Begins

With the slogan of ‘Transforming Life Through Innovation’, BASIS SoftExpo 2020 has begun at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB). The 4-day event will be a congregation of ICT companies, personalities, key policymakers, industry leaders and other ICT stakeholders. It will go on till 9 February, 2020.

Honorable President of People’s Republic of Bangladesh Md. Abdul Hamid has inauguratd BASIS SoftExpo 2020. Besides, the Hon’ble Minister of Ministry of Industries, Mr. Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun MP and Senior Secretary, Department of Information and Communication Technology, Mr. N M Ziaul Alam were present as the Special Guest.

BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir, Senior Vice President Farhana A Rahman, Vice President (Admin) Shoeb Ahmed Masud, Vice President (Finance) & BASIS SoftExpo 2020’s Convener Mushfiqur Rahman, Director Tamzid Siddiq Spondon and Director Didarul Alam.

Besides, BASIS SoftExpo 2020’s Platinum Sponsor Dutch Bangla Bank Limited-DBBL’s  Chairman Sayem Ahmed was present. BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir expressed his hopes regarding SoftExpo 2020. He said BASIS SoftExpo will help the local IT companies to expand their businesses. 300 exhibitors will participate this year. SoftExpo is the platform to showcase the capability of local software companies in the international arena.

BASIS SoftExpo’s Convener & BASIS Vice President (Finance) Mushfiqur Rahman said, BASIS SoftExpo 2020 has been divided into 10 individual zones. Industry 4.0 Zone, Experience Zone will uplift Bangladesh’s ICT Sector growth & development. There will be VAT Zone, Digital Education Zone, FinTech Zone, Women Zone and as usual Software Showcasing Zone, Mobile Innovation Zone, Digital Commerce Zone, ITES & BPO Zone. Also, B-2-B matchmaking session would be a unique opportunity for Software and ITES companies.

DBBL’s Chairman Sayed Ahmed said, expansion and development of the local ICT sector is the heart & soul of Digital Bangladesh. The local ICT sector has been contributing from the very beginning in the development of Digital Bangladesh. The motto of BASIS SoftExpo is to uphold the capability of the local ICT sector. Besides, stakeholders of the ICT industry will take part in the SoftExpo. This year BASIS will organize BASIS SoftExpo 2020 in a wider spectrum, one of the largest ICT expositions in this region. DBBL has agreed to be the Platinum partner of this grand event. Senior Secretary, ICTD spoke as well in this regard.

At his speech Industry Minister said, Technology-friendly government has given special attention to the computer and related sector in the latest National Industry Policy. The contribution of information technology sector has been increasing in the pace of time. We hope the technology sector will represents 5 percent of country’s gross domestic product by 2024.

At his speech Honorable President of People’s Republic of Bangladesh said, Bangladesh is moving forward to knowledge-based economy in pace of technology and the local companies have showed their excellence by expanding service coverage across 60 countries around the world. Bangladeshi youths have huge talent in information technology. IT companies should utilize the potentials through perfect placements. The government and donor agencies have to promote local services to maintain security for national resources

At this year’s BASIS SoftExpo B-2-B matchmaking sessions will be held between local and foreign companies, allowing local ICT companies to expand their businesses. This year companies from Sweden, Japan, Netherlands will participate at B-2-B matchmaking session. Top Ten companies from other verticals will be recognized as ‘BASIS Top Ten Digital-Ready Company’ for successfully organizing B-2-B for session with BASIS member companies.

Besides, Bangladesh’s largest ICT career camp will be held with more than 2000 students. There will be Innovative Project show-casing, with the participation of more than 45 universities. Among which the first three Innovative Projects will be awarded. The largest Outsourcing Conference in Bangladesh will take place. Top CEO’s, CTO’s, COO, CFO’s will participate at CxO Night. There will be concert as well.
