Grameenphone launches Bangladesh’s First Green Grameenphone Center in Sylhet

Grameenphone has launched Bangladesh’s first-ever Green Grameenphone Center in Ambarkhana, Sylhet, becoming the country’s first mobile operator to launch an eco-friendly service center. This landmark initiative sets a new and inspiring precedent in sustainable practices, underscoring Grameenphone’s unwavering commitment to environmental responsibility, creating a space that combines eco-conscious practices while transforming customer experiences.

Designed for a greener future, the Green Grameenphone Center is a pioneering concept in the telecommunication sector, with 99.9% paperless and plastic-free operations. From its construction to its interior and daily operations, every aspect of the center emphasizes environmental responsibility. Every element of the center is crafted from sustainable materials, replacing traditional materials with sustainable, recyclable, and recycled options. The customer service experience is paperless, leveraging digital innovation to ensure efficiency while minimizing environmental impact.
The center fosters a green ambiance through vertical gardens and eco-friendly landscaping. Furthermore, it proudly showcases Sylhet’s heritage by incorporating “Shitol Pati” – traditional woven mats – into its design, symbolizing Grameenphone’s belief in the harmony between innovation and nature.
The inauguration ceremony, held at Ambarkhana in Sylhet on January 29, was graced by Farha Naz Zaman, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), Grameenphone. Other participants included representatives from Grameenphone Center partner, and relevant stakeholders.
Speaking on this milestone, Farha Naz Zaman, CMO of Grameenphone, said, “Customer centricity is at the heart of everything we do, and when it meets sustainability, it creates meaningful impact. The Green Customer Center in Sylhet exemplifies our commitment to creating a greener, more sustainable future while ensuring customer-first solutions. By seamlessly integrating innovation, sustainability, and local heritage, we strive to encourage industries and communities to embrace eco-friendly practices. Beyond environmental stewardship, this initiative aligns with Grameenphone’s vision of minimizing our carbon footprint and contributing to global sustainability goals. This center demonstrates our dedication to empowering local communities by honoring their cultural traditions, while actively contributing to environmental conservation and the well-being of the communities we serve.”
