“Daraz presents Nibedita Equalizer 2022” celebrates the spirit of women empowerment

Leading e-commerce platform Daraz Bangladesh recently tagged along with popular women’s community “Nibedita” to organize “Daraz presents Nibedita Equalizer 2022” – an exclusive event that highlighted the need to ensure equal rights for everyone beyond gender identity. The event was held on March 11 in the light of International Women’s Day (IWD), where 9 strong and empowered women received prestigious recognitions in the event for their exemplary role in breaking gender biases in the digital space under 8 categories.
M. A. Mannan, MP, Minister of Planning, joined the event virtually as the Chief Guest. Bikarna Kumar Ghosh, Managing Director (Additional Secretary) of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, ICT Division, along with Naheed Ezaher Khan MP was present at the event as the Special guest. Founder & Managing Partner of SBK Tech Ventures & SBK Foundation Sonia Bashir Kabir graced the event with her Keynote speech. Anika Islam, Founder and CEO of Nibedita Womens Community were also present at the event along with other distinguished guests.
Nibedita is a community formed with a view to helping all women in the society. Nibedita’s mission is to empower women with a variety of skills, technologies and lifestyle know-how to better empower themselves, enabling them to contribute into society. As a part of establishing its vision, Nibedita took the step to honor these empowered women.
Women who received recognition are Shahnaz Shimul Rahman (Beauty Blogger); Dr. Kashfiaa Amina and Habiba Akter Shurovy (Fashion Blogger); Nusrat Islam (Food Blogger); Shams Afroz Chowdhury (Content Creator: Entertainment); Samina Sara (Makeup Artist); Kamrunnesa Mira (Social Cause/Well-being); Kamrun N. Koly (Mental Health/Fitness) and Ishrat Amin (Travel and Photography).
An in-depth panel discussion on “Impact of Biasness on Mental Health and Emotional Intelligence” was held at the event, where the speakers shed light on various aspects of mental health, how it is affected by others’ perspectives and how women can solve problems with a proactive attitude applying emotional intelligence. Another key attraction of the event was the “Daraz Power-couple Discussion” session, where prominent and successful couples – Zara Mahbub and Naveed Mahbub; Sadia Haque and Kashef Rahman– shared their success stories and discussed why it is important to support each other’s objectives in life as partners.
Besides the award winners, six more women– Tahseen Bahar Suchona, Ayreen Khan, Tahera Nazrin, Nobonita Chowdhury, Nuzhat Chowdhury, and Mahfuza Liza – were handed over honorary awards for their ambitious exploration in the own field.
On this occasion, Daraz CMO Md Tajdin Hassan said, “We are living in the age of ICT, where the participation of women is turning out to be a game-changing across the world. We need more women, like the 9 women we have present here today, to create examples and inspire others about the possibility and potential they possess within themselves, overcoming the mental bias that they are only bound to abide by others’ dictations. Daraz is proud and gratified to be able to recognize the efforts of all these women.”
“Women need to be at the forefront of development and economic inclusion in Bangladesh right now. I thank Daraz for their out-of-the-box thinking and partnering with us for such a fascinating event, where women can feel reinvigorated to pursue their dreams of self-sufficiency”, said Anika Islam, Founder and CEO of Nibedita Womens Community.
Among other segments of the event were a beautiful tribal dance and a cultural performance by celebrity Bidya Sinha Mim. Many of the invitees shared a photo moment in the special photo booth at the event venue. As an industry-leading organization, Daraz felt proud to recognize the contribution of the hard working women and give them a platform to inspire other women who also have similar potential.
