Cyber Security Challenge 2018  Champion Pabna Polytechnic Institute

Pabna Polytechnic Institute’s ‘Error Squad Bangladesh’ team has won champion title in the ‘Cyber ​​Security Challenge-2018’ championship lagging behind country’s best university like Dhaka University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Jahangirnagar University. Champion team members are Prial Islam, Md. Abdullah and Tasadir Ahmed.

Advanced Technology BD organized the event at the capital last Saturday and at Daffodil International University final part of the competition and the prize distribution ceremony was held. Team of the United College of Aviation, Science and Management (UCASM) has won the runner up title in the competition.

Minzurul Islam, Rafin Hossain and Sabit Shafi’s team ‘Frog Hunter’. Second Runner up has been Mehedi Hasan Miraj, Asaduzzaman Asad and Sanjidar’s team ‘Cyber ​​Nuts’ from Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) and ‘UAP Mystical 6′ team of the University of Asia Pacific won the competition as women’s team. The team members are Samia Haque, Anika Tabassum and Jannatul Ferdous Eva.

As a reward Laptop was provided to everyone in the champions group of the competition, smartphones for first runner up team, and crest with Tablet PC as a reward for the second runners-up team, REVE antivirus and Certificates has been given. Winners of women teams has given special honors. Besides, members of winning teams will get the opportunity to intern in the top IT organization of the country.

At the closing and price giving ceremony, there were present as chief guests: Mostofa Jabbar, the Former Minister of Postal and tele communication technology, BASIS Chairman Syed Almas Kabir, ISPAB Chairman M. A. Hakim, The Director of Cyber Security Center, an organization of the Daffodil Group Professor Dr. Touhid Bhuiyan, the Director of Dolphin Computers Ltd. (Marketing and Operations) Monoarul Islam, Head of Platform and Data Engineering of Pathao Safkat Asif, Director (Marketing) of Smart Technologies (BD) Mujahid Albiruni Shujon, Head of Business and Strategy of iPay Md. Abul Khayer Chowdhury, the convener of the Cyber Security Challenge Competition Abdur Rahman Shawon and many more.

More than two hundred teams registered to the primary level of the competition with a slogan, “Be the Ultimate Security Specialist”.  After the opening ceremony on December 2 at American International University Bangladesh, at eight more universities this activation program took place. At the final program of the competition, 40 selected teams of several universities of the country got chance to participate through online examination. Among the selected teams a three hours web vulnerability assessment test has been taken. A team of top 10 cyber security experts from the country has conducted the judgement. After the lunch break, there were a panel discussion on ‘Digital Bangladesh and Cyber Security’. The Smart Technologies BD AGM and Head of Software Division Morshed Hossain presented the main article there. As speaker there were present the General Secretary of Bangladesh Women in IT (BWIT) Rezwana Khan, Head of Business and Strategy iPay, Md. Abul Khayer, Chief Executive and Cyber Security Specialist of Right Times, Tauhidur Rahman Bhuiyan. After that the closing and the prize giving ceremony was held.

Speaking as the chief guest at the concluding ceremony, Mustafa Jabber said, “Cyber ​​security is an important issue in the IT sector. Our youth have the capability to protect Digital Bangladesh. Hopefully, this kind of competition will lead to more skilled young workers in cyber security.

BASIS President Almas Kabir said to the young students that the more world will become digital the importance of cyber security will increase. We have great scope for cyber security. We have to acquire skills in one of our fields Now, for instance in information technology world when we talk about hackers Russia or China comes to mind so we have to make sure when  people talks about cyber security the name of Bangladesh comes. If we can pursue this goal as Bangladesh is known as a cyber-security expert, we can be one of the top countries in the IT sector. Famous ride sharing app Pathao was the powered by sponsor of the event and iPay, SCSL, Kaspersky, MetroNet were the co-Sponsors. As strategic partner, BASIS, ISPAB, BAKKO, BDOSN and as Competition partner Daffodil International University and Cyber ​​Security Center (CSC) were there. Security partner was REVE Antivirus and Media Associate were Concito PR and Dhaka Live.
