Bikroy turns 12: Milestone 2.6 crore sellers served

Bikroy, the largest marketplace in Bangladesh with a track record of pioneering interventions in the e-commerce landscape, has turned 12 and begun its 13th year of driving Bangladesh’s digital transformation. Since Bikroy’s launch in 2012, the marketplace has become a household name, emerging as a trusted platform for a wide range of options from cars, properties to electronics, jobs and even matrimonial services.

Bikroy recently marked its glorious 12th anniversary with a grand celebration at its head office in Dhaka. The event was attended by Eshita Sharmin, Chief Executive Officer of Bikroy, the management team, and other esteemed guests. The celebration served as a moment to reflect on the company’s achievement as one of the country’s first widely adopted online marketplaces. The Bikroy team commemorated the stakeholders and partners who have supported Bikroy’s growth amidst the evolving market dynamics.

Bikroy’s journey over the past 12 years has been nothing short of extraordinary. The platform has facilitated more than 2.6 crore lifetime sellers and attracted over 5.2 crore lifetime interested buyers. Over the course of its operations, Bikroy has served 32,000 members and supported the growth of more than 500 entrepreneurs annually, helping them thrive in the digital marketplace. Each month, over 3 lakh new ads are published on Bikroy, with an average of 30 interested buyers per ad. To further boost sales, Bikroy offers four distinct promotional options, which have been shown to increase sales by up to 60%.
Nils Hammar, CEO of Saltside Technologies, the Sweden-based parent company of Bikroy, shared his thoughts on the company’s future, stating, “Bikroy has made incredible strides in the past 12 years, and what excites me the most is the growing community of users who trust us. Our focus now is on enhancing user experience through better technology and customer service. We are committed to creating a more seamless, secure, and user-friendly platform that meets the evolving needs of the people of Bangladesh. The future of Bikroy will be driven by our users, and we look forward to shaping the next phase of growth together.”
Eshita Sharmin, CEO of Bikroy, expressed her gratitude, saying, “At Bikroy, we are incredibly grateful to everyone who has been a part of our journey over the last 12 years. From a small team of just 10 in 2012 to a dynamic workforce of 100 today, we’ve seen remarkable growth. Our priority now is to invest in advanced tools and services that will benefit both buyers and sellers across the nation. This year, our goal is to strengthen our support for entrepreneurs and continue driving innovation. We look forward to partnering with our users and stakeholders in creating a more connected and prosperous Bangladesh.”

Looking ahead, Bikroy is excited to introduce new features aimed at improving the platform’s efficiency, speed, security, and user experience. These enhancements are designed to make the marketplace even more accessible and beneficial for both buyers and sellers.
