BASIS working to promote Bangladesh ICT industry in the United Kingdom

Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) is planning to hold a special event in London this June with a view to promote Bangladesh ICT industry in the United Kingdom (UK). This was stated at a meeting between BASIS President Mr. Russell T. Ahmed and Bangladesh High Commissioner to the UK H.E. Ms. Saida Muna Tasneem on Thursday, 24 March 2022, at the Bangladesh High Commission in London.

H.E. Ms. Saida Muna Tasneem expressed her interest in supporting the ICT industry of Bangladesh. She said that she is keen to assist BASIS in organizing an event in London in June this year to promote the industry in the UK. Besides, she is interested to take part in organizing Business-to-Business (B2B) matchmaking session between Bangladeshi ICT companies and their UK counterparts.

At the meeting, Mr. Russell T. Ahmed articulated the activities and agenda of BASIS to the esteemed diplomat. He said that BASIS is working hand-in-hand with the government to reach the goal of earning US$ 5 billion in ICT exports by 2024 and US$ 20 billion by 2031. In this regard, the UK is one of the most potential markets for exporters in the Bangladesh ICT sector.

Mr. Russell T. Ahmed took the opportunity to handover the BASIS Luna Shamsuddoha Award 2022 to H.E. Ms. Saida Muna Tasneem. She is one of the 10 individual women who won the newly launched award from BASIS for her excellence in her field of work and for being a icon in women empowerment. The award ceremony took place recently in Dhaka, which will be organized each year by BASIS, to commemorate the contribution of Late Ms. Luna Shamsuddoha in the ICT sector of Bangladesh.
