Banglalink SDG Hackathon “Code for a Cause” 2.0 calls for applications

Banglalink, one of the leading digital communications service providers in Bangladesh, has officially kicked off the registration process for the second edition of Banglalink SDG Hackathon “Code for a Cause,” a 24-hour hackathon aimed at encouraging young problem solvers to come up with innovative solutions to socio-economic challenges related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

To participate in the hackathon, interested candidates have to complete the application by visiting https://sdghackathon.banglalink.net by 22 January 2020. Shortlisted teams will be invited to solve problems related to SDG at a 24-hour hackathon in an inspiring environment. The teams will solve problems, design solutions and pitch their digital ideas on crucial socio-economic factors such as decent work, quality education, climate action and gender equality. The candidates need to form a balanced team (coders, designers, etc.) consisting of three members and apply for the participation.

Taimur Rahman, Chief Corporate & Regulatory Affairs Officer, Banglalink said, “As a socially responsible corporate organization, Banglalink always prioritizes addressing key socio-economic challenges through innovative digital initiatives. This hackathon has opened up a great opportunity for innovative digital enthusiasts to come up with new ideas and contribute to tackling SDG challenges. The overwhelming responses from the candidates made the inaugural edition of this competition a great success, and we are looking forward to replicating that success once again.”

A project under ‘Make Your Mark’, a flagship Corporate Responsibility program of Banglalink’s parent company VEON, Banglalink SDG Hackathon “Code for a Cause” was launched in 2018.
