Bangladeshi firm ‘Orangebd’ support digitalisation of Philippines

Bangladeshi tech company Orange Business Development Limited (Orangebd) has been awarded to digitalisation project of the Philippines. “Orangebd is working on technical assistance for various e-governance projects of the Philippine government. Already, 14 citizen and business-related services of 20 municipalities out of 123 municipalities in a state in the Philippines have been digitalised,” Orangebd chief executive officer Al-Ashraful Kabir Jewel told a press briefing at Dhanmondi Club in Dhaka on Tuesday.

The company’s directors, Hafez Ahmed and Shamim Hossain, and PR Officer Shahriar Shams were present on the occasion.
The CEO informed that Orangebd is also working on the development of the Programme and Project Monitoring System of the National Economic and Development Authority, an institution under the President of the Philippines.
The Philippines Interior and Local Government Minister and UNDP Resident Representative are scheduled to inaugurate the project on 23 January next year.
According to the official, digital services will be implemented in all municipalities in phases under the project, while all citizen—and business-related services will gradually be brought under the scope of digital transformation.
Al-Ashraful Kabir Jewel said that using Bangladeshi software to implement e-governance projects abroad is not only a matter of dignity but also a new source of remittance.
He expressed gratitude to all concerned for the steps taken by the current government to open the market for domestic companies outside the country.
Orange Business Development Limited has been operating business activities in the country and abroad as an information technology company since 2005. In addition to digitizing various services of the Bangladesh government, the company has been providing technical support to online versions of various leading media outlets.
