Bangladesh to step 5G in 2020

Postal and Telecommunications Minister Mostafa Jabbar said 5G will serve as the basis for new civilization. A roadmap has already been created to expand it. Bangladesh will get into the 5G world in 2020.
He said this at a meeting of the Telecommunication Department’s conference room in Tejgaon on Monday. The meeting was held with a seven-member American expert team on digital and cybersecurity.

The minister said that 5G is not just seen as a talking or browsing technology, it is called the highway of the digital industrial revolution. 5G will play a vital role in the development of industry, trade, agriculture, education, and medical systems.

Referring to the first such discussion on cybersecurity, the telecommunications minister said that security has become important in the digitalization process.

The meeting was attended by Secretary of the Postal and Telecommunications Department Noor-ur-Rahman, Director General of the Department of Posts Mohsinul Alam, US State Department cyber expert John Pilates, Lisa G., and Daniel Larson including senior officials of various government ministries and the American embassy.

A roadmap of 5G was presented by the Director-General of BTRC, Brigadier General Md. Shahidul Alam. Cyber Threat Detection and Response Project Deputy Project Director Engineer Md. Golam Sarwar also talked about cybersecurity.
