Bangladesh Festival, held in Qatar, commemorates Independence Day

The “Bangladesh Festival” took place in the Middle Eastern country, Qatar. The festival was organized on the occasion of Independence Day, to celebrate the history, culture and attractions of Bangladesh. The festival included drawing competition for children, photo exhibition and screenings of the critically acclaimed film, Aynabaji. In collaboration with the Bangladesh Forum Qatar, the Embassy of Bangladesh in Doha, held the Festival in Doha, the capital of Qatar. The festival concluded, last Monday, 25th March 25, 2019.

His Excellency Ashud Ahmed the Bangladeshi Ambassador to Qatar, inaugurated the festival at the Qatar Cultural Village, on Tuesday afternoon, March 19, 2019. Later on the ambassador also inaugurated the premier screening of the film “Aynabaji”. During the inauguration ceremony, the producer of Aynabaji, Ziauddin Adil, Honorary Counsul, Democratic Republic of the Congo and CEO, Top of Mind was praised by Ambassador Ashud Ahmed for his contributions.

‘Bangladesh Forum Qatar’ was the main organizer of the screening. The premier was jovial and lively and was a full house. Locals and foreigners in Qatar, along with Ambassadors from India, Nepal, Indonesia, China, Vietnam, South Korea, Uruguay, Portugal, Ukraine, Turkey along with citizens of Qatar and tourists, attended the gala ceremony.

Prominent and prolific photographer Nigel Doyez attended ‘the photo exhibition’ segment of the festival as the judge. Marium Majid, International Affairs manager, Qatar were also present at the event. Dignitaries from Doha along with the spouses of the Ambassadors to Qatar participated in the “Oil Painting Competition” at the Festival.

Along with the Aynabaji premier show the Bangladesh Festival arranged a photo exhibition and a food festival. As a part of the festival Mashur-Ul-Haque Memorial (MHM) school and college organized a drawing competition for children. More than 80 participants from different countries took part in this competition. A workshop on photography also took place.

Iftekher Ahmed, President, Bangladesh Forum Qatar during the festival commented, “We have observed the week long Bangladesh Festival. The film ‘Aynabaji’ was a key part of our festival. It was our sincere effort to present an acclaimed and unique cinema to our visitors and viewers. The drawing competition for children received huge number of participants.”

The leading and prominent personnel of Qatar Community said that after a long period, a Bangla Film such as ‘Aynabaji’ was screened. Through the premier of the critically acclaimed and unique film, ‘Aynabaji’, Bangladeshi Cinema can have a global reach.
