“Astronaut Camp” is going to be held for the first time in Dhaka

“Astronaut Camp” is going to be organized for the first time in Dhaka under the joint initiative of Bangladesh Innovation Forum and Space Innovation Camp and in collaboration with Daffodil International School to interest children and teenagers in space science and to learn about various aspects of space.

The event will be held on June 28-29, 2024 at 71 Auditorium, Daffodil Tower, Dhanmondi where hundreds of students from different schools of Dhaka will participate in this event.

The organizers hope that this event will increase interest in space science for students aged 4 to 14 years.

The day-long program includes interactive sessions on Apollo missions, Space Robotics Workshop, Rocket Exploration Workshop, Making Moon Lander, Satellite Making Workshop, VR Based Astronaut Training and XR Based Journey to Space Training. There will also be a quiz and an opportunity to take photos wearing astronaut dresses.

From the camp, children will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of space science and technology. They will learn the history and significance of space missions, such as the detailed knowledge of space exploration through the Apollo missions.

They will learn about robotics by building robots in the Space Robotics Workshop, they will learn about various aspects of rocket science, structure and working process of rocket through rocket exploration workshop, get practical understanding about design and working of space vehicle by building lander and satellite.

Also, through virtual reality (VR) and extended reality (XR) based training, the students will experience space travel.

Ariful Hasan Opu, President of Bangladesh Innovation Forum and Advisor to NASA Space Apps Challenge Bangladesh said, “The main objective of organizing this Astronaut Camp is to provide hands-on learning opportunities to children and teenagers about space science and technology.

We believe that through this camp, children will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of space exploration and will increase their interest in science and technology.

Our mission is to inspire children to take their first steps into the world of space exploration and to spark their curiosity and creativity.”
