Ashraful Ban for Fixing

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has asked Mohammad Ashraful to stay off all forms of the game until ICC`s Anti Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) submits its report on the raging spot-fixing controversy in the Bangladesh Premiere League (BPL).

BCB chief Nazmul Hasan told a press briefing Tuesday at Dhaka`s Sher-e-Bangla Stadium that the BCB is expected to receive the full report of the ACSU investigation soon. “ACSU’s investigation will end soon.

They will submit the full report to BCB in seven days,” Nazmul Hasan said. “I’ll ask you the press to be patient and wait for some more days. Those who were involved in spot-fixing will have to be given exemplary punishment.

Otherwise you all know where will Bangladesh’s cricket end up.” Nazmul Hassan scotched speculaation on how many players might be involved in the spot-fixing, saying `it was not a matter to be discussed right now.” If accusations are proved against anyone, he will not be spared, Hasan said, insisting the ACSU and the BCB will jointly publish the report.

The ACSU officials arrived in Dhaka on Saturday evening. This is their fourth visit to investigate the spot-fixing allegations in the last two-and-half months.

The investigators questioned several Bangladesh cricketers during their last visit, but have not interrogated anyone else this time. But Dhaka Gladiators owner Selim Chowdhury’s son and also team’s Managing Director Shihab Chowdhury was questioned on Sunday.
