“5G to bridge the ‘Digital Gap’ in Bangladesh”

5G will play an important role in fulfilling the dream of ‘Digital Bangladesh’ by bridging the ‘Digital Gap’ in Bangladesh, said Zhang Zhengjun, CEO of Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Ltd. He made the remarks at a panel discussion on the last day of the 16th ‘Basis SoftEXPO 2020’, yesterday.

Demand for internet in Bangladesh is huge. 5G Launching will create massive demand of using internet in different sectors and the possibilities in work field. Emphasizing on Digital Infrastructural improvements, Zhang Zhengjun said, “More & more towers need to be built in Bangladesh to get ready for 5G properly. Because without the infrastructural development, the potential of 5G cannot be explored entirely.”

“If structure were not ready in China, could Alibaba come into?”-he added. Zhang Zhengjun urged to the government that they should take necessary steps to set up a certain zone for local and foreign companies like Garments & other industries in order to take the digital industry forward.

The panelists of the two hour-long panel discussion were Commissioner of BRTC Aminul Hasan, Country Manager of LM Ericsson Bangladesh Limited Abdus Salam, CEO of BRAC Net Limited Saeed PF Ahmed, Executive Vice President (Technology) of Robi Axiata Ltd. Shamsur Rahman, Chief Corporate & Regulatory Affairs Officer of Banglalink, Taimur Rahman and managing Director and CEO of Summit Communications Limited Arif Al-Islam. The Panel discussion was conducted by Khalid Shams, the CEO of 4K Engineering.

‘BASIS SoftEXPO 2020’, the biggest exhibition on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in South Asia, began on February 6, 2020. Thousands of tech enthusiasts as well as people from all demographic segments were gathered in the spectacular four-day event at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital Dhaka.
