‘State of Gaming and Metaverse Industry in Bangladesh’

BASIS Standing Committee on Games, XR and NFT and the Department of Multimedia and Creative Technology(MCT) of Daffodil International University jointly organized a series of a seminar titled ‘State of Gaming and Metaverse Industry of Bangladesh’ on Monday, 4 September 2022 in Daffodil International University International Conference Hall, Ashulia, Dhaka.

Mr. Dr. Mohammad Fakhre Hossain, Honorable Dean, Department of Science and Information Technology Daffodil International University’s made the opening speech at the seminar.
In the seminar, experts shared their knowledge, success stories and case studies on Games, Extended Reality (XR) and Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT) with the audience. Mr. Md. Sanzer Adnan, CEO, Debugs BD Limited and Co-chairman, BASIS Standing Committee on Games, XR and NFT said that the demand for games, XR and NFT in the local and global market is increasing day by day but compared to our skilled manpower is very limited, global market. In order to survive in the international market due to the demand in this sector, Bangladesh has to face various challenges he added in his speech.
Mr. Tanvir Hossain Khan, Director, BASIS and Chief Executive Officer, Dreamerz Lab Limited presented a case study on XR and Metaverse Industry, highlighting the global demand for XR and Metaverse industry and highlighting the position of Bangladesh in it. Discusses in detail the use of virtual avatars and metahumans. He also highlighted the steps taken by BASIS on Games, XR and NFT and invited all the universities to visit BASIS SoftExpo held on November 22-26, 2022.
Mr. Mohammad Abdul Majeed, Chairman & CEO, Bangla Puzzles Limited presented his case study about the instant gaming portal mojargames.com. Discusses the local market needs of instant gaming portals in detail. In addition to discussing his future plans with mojargames.com and career opportunities for skilled manpower. Mr. Md. Shahriar Mobashwir, CEO, Angular e-Sports Limited said details about e-Sports in his speech, highlighted the global demand for e-sports and also discussed how Angular eSports Limited contributes to the eSports industry. Mr. Nirbas Abdullah Karim (NFT Enthusiast) in his speech highlighted Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT) and Web3. Introduction to NFT and Smart Contracts, the utility of NFT, real-life use of NFT as SAAS license and potential of NFT in Bangladesh.
The seminar was open to all students of Daffodil International University. The seminar was attended by prominent members of the Standing Committee on Basis Games, XR and NFTs and was also connected online. Finally, in the closing speech, Mr. Shaikh Muhammad Allayear, Head of the Multimedia and Creative Technology Department, said that he thinks this seminar will play a very important role for those who are interested in establishing their careers in Games Development, XR and NFT. It may be noted that this year the Standing Committee on Basis Games, XR and NFT is planning to organize more events on a larger scale. Mr. Toufiq Elahi Plaban was present as member-secretary in charge of the BASIS Secretariat.
