Shayan F. Rahman wins Junior Chamber International (JCI) award

Ahmed ShayanFazlur Rahman, director of Beximco Group, one of the country’s largest conglomerates, has won Junior Chamber International (JCI) awardfor his outstanding contribution to entrepreneurial accomplishment.

Junior Chamber International (JCI) Bangladesh yesterday awarded the 2019 edition of The JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons of Bangladesh (JCI TOYP) at a ceremony titled “TOYP 2019” in the capital.

Shayan has been awarded for playing an active role in the continuing progress of the Beximco Group.

On receiving the award, Shayan thanked the organizers and said, “We the young people feel motivated with such recognitions.”“The country witnessed phenomenal growth in the last 10 years in almost all sectors including power and infrastructure. If the pace of development continues, Bangladesh will move further forward,” he continued.

The list also included Cartoonist Abdullah Al Morshed, who is also the Founder of Global Happiness Challenge, Dr. AsrafulHoqueSium, Unit Chief of Assistant Professor and Resident Surgeon at Department Of Cardiac Surgery, National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, MP, captain of the country’s One Day International cricket team, MuhibulHasan Chowdhury MP, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Education, Mohiuddin Ahmed, Director, Badsha Group of Industries, NusratFaria, renowned media personality and model, Salman Karim, Managing Director of Confidence Infrastructure Limited, TahminaMostafa, Director, Meghna Group of Industries, and Tanvir A Mishuk, Managing Director of Nagad.

JaityaSangsad Speaker ShirinSharminChaudhury MP attended the programme as the Chief Guest and handed over the awards to the 10 young persons for their contributions to different sectors. The Guest of Honour of the programme was Chief Whip Noor E Alam Chowdhury MP while the Special Guest was President of FBCCI Sheikh FazleFahim. National President Iran Islam, TOYP Committee Chair, and National Treasurer Sakib Ahmed, TOYP Committee Co-Chair, Salehin F. Nahiyan, National Executive Vice-President Sarah Kamal along with other National Officers, Local Presidents, and members of JCI Bangladesh were present in the programme. Diplomats, government officials, business leaders, leading entrepreneurs, students and young professionals were also present.

By recognising young people, who excel in their chosen fields and are creating positive changes in the society, JCI aims to promote the idea of socially responsible leadership in the country. Junior Chamber International, commonly referred to as JCI, is a non-profit international non-governmental organization of young people between 18 and 40 years old. It has members in about 124 countries.
