Shakib vs David Warner

Shakib Al Hasan’s unbeaten knock of 61 helped Dhaka Dynamites overpower Sylhet Sixers in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on Friday.

A magnificent batting show by Sixers captain David Warner in the first innings helped his side put up a challenging total of 158 for 8. But, the high-flying Dynamites, who won four of their last five matches, made the chase look easy.

Apart from Shakib, Andre Russell’s unbeaten 40 off 21 balls fired Dynamites to reach the target in 17 overs with six wickets in hand. They finished at 163 for 4 at Sylhet International Stadium.

In the first innings, Sixers lost their openers Sabbir Rahman and Liton Das at 38. Afif Hossain and David Warner added 40 runs in the third-wicket stand. After Afif walked back to the pavilion scoring 19, Warner kept the score afloat. He hit 63 off 43 balls with eight fours and one six.

Andrew Birch, the South African pacer, who is playing his first match in BPL, took three wickets while Shakib bagged two.

Sixers will play their next match on 19 January against defending champions Rangpur Riders while Dynamites will face Chittagong Vikings on 21 January.
