Shakib Al Hasan to bat for Uber as Brand Ambassador in Bangladesh

Uber, the world’s largest ridesharing company, today announced that ace all-rounder and the captain of Bangladesh’s test cricket team, Shakib Al Hasan, will serve as its first brand ambassador in the country. The partnership underscores Uber and Shakib Al Hasan’s commitment to create employment opportunities, empower youth and build a stronger transport system for all Bangladeshis.

Commenting on the announcement, Pradeep Parameswaran, President of India & South Asia, Uber, said, “We are delighted to have Shakib Al Hasan come out to bat as brand ambassador for Uber in Bangladesh. Over the years, Shakib has been an influential role model for Bangladeshis, both on and off the field. In him, we’ve found a partner, who reflects and shares our ideals of bringing about positive change, empowering communities and improving the lives of all Bangladeshis. I’m confident our partnership will be a big step forward to further invest and innovate in a very important market for us.’’

Commenting on his association with Uber, Bangladesh Cricket Team’s captain in test format and ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan said, “As a cricketer, I travel a lot and I have personally enjoyed the seamless experience of booking an Uber. It’s great to see how Uber uses technology to revolutionize the way people move around cities and empowers millions around the world by creating economic opportunities. I’m very excited to be batting for Uber because it’s revolutionizing both the technological and transportation landscape across Bangladesh.”

In the weeks and months ahead as Shakib Al Hasan remains focused on giving his best and winning on the cricket field, Uber too will focus on winning big in Bangladesh by enhancing urban mobility, reducing congestion and providing entrepreneurship opportunities for thousands of driver partners in Chittagong and Dhaka.
