Rural Electricity Bills Payment Becomes Easy

Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board has signed an agreement with Rupali Bank to easeelectricity billpayment for its customers across the country. Customers now can pay electricity bills easily from their Rupali Bank SureCash mobile banking account.

Signing ceremony was held in 6 October,  Sunday;  in the head office of BREB. Md. Asafuddowla, Secretary of BREB and Mohammed Kawsar Mustafiz, Deputy General Manager of Rupali Bank have signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

Abul Kalam Shamsuddin, Member (Administration); Hedayetul Islam, Additional Chief Engineer and ICT Director; Md. Hossain Patwary, Director, Financial Monitoring of BREB; Md. Obayed Ullah Al Masud, Managing Director; Md. Rezaul Kabir Kawsari, Assistant General Manager, Mobile Banking Division of Rupali Bank Limited; Dr. Shahadat Khan, Chief Executive Officer; Md. Abu Taleb, Chief Business Officer,  of SureCash along with top executives and officials of these organizations were present on the occasion.

Md. Obayed Ullah Al Masud, MD of Rupali Bank Limited said, “Nearly 20 million customers are living in eighty thousand villages. Most of them are also customers of BREB. They now will be able to pay their electricity bills from their own account wherethey received primary education stipend.”

Dr. Shahadat Khan, CEO of SureCash said, “Rupali Bank SureCash is one of the largest digital payment services in the country. We are delighted to add rural electricity bill payment services for our customers.”

It is to be noted that the BREB is working to ensure electricity to all Upazilas. Currently, BREB is providing electricity to 27 million customers and it is playing a vital role in the socio-economic development of the country.
