Let letter reappear in the month of mother language day!

Specialized program is being observed to bring back the practice of writing letters among mass people marking the International Mother Language Day.

The largest privately-run insurance firm of Bangladesh, Green Delta Insurance Company Ltd., initiated the letter festival titled – “Firey Ashuk Chithi” (meaning – Let letter reappear) on February 10, which will continue till February 21.

To remind the countrymen about an almost forgone element of our culture, specialized public awareness program has been organized including ‘Letter Festival’ at different educational institutes and public hotspots under campaign.

While Bangladesh Post Office is the strategic logistic partner for this campaign, Ministry of Cultural Affairs remains as patron of the specialized campaign.

Country’s renowned litterateurs including Mr. Asaduzzaman Noor, former Minister of Cultural Affairs, are expected to attend a ‘Letter Reciting’ program at the end of the campaign. The month long campaign will be wrapped up through reciting some historical letters by the noted personalities.

In addition, MD & CEO of Green Delta Insurance, Farzana Chowdhury, wrote greeting letters to many renowned people in their respective fields as a part of the campaign just like it was done the previous year on the same occasion. And similar to last year, these letters would be hand-delivered to respective recipients by postmen in traditional uniform, according to a handout of the organizer.

“Letter is a part of our culture and history, which is now alien to young generation due to adoption of technological communication mediums. However, letters contain emotions, love, and affections of interpersonal relationship and contains a personal touch that’s missing for any other communication medium. The initiative of Green Delta Insurance deserves appreciation for reintroducing this almost extinct cultural element to the countrymen, especially the young generation”, said an organizer.

The organizers claimed that the campaign is organized to uphold the most ancient tradition of communication among mass in effort to revive the culture and practice of letter writing, which is almost forgotten and forgone in modern days due to pace of communication technology.
