Jobike arrives in SUST

Country’s first bicycle sharing service Jobike on Sunday launched ‘test run’ at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) in Sylhet.

The students of the university avail the mobile application-based intra-campus bicycle service from morning 8 am to night 12 am, according to a handout of Jobike. Jobike is a mobile application which enables users to find bicycles for use on a temporary basis. After downloading the application, users will have to open an account and then by scanning the QR code they can easily unlock the bicycles.

SUST Vice Chancellor Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed inaugurated the service at a function at a function in front of Education Building- E in the campus on Sunday morning. SUST Proctor Prof Zahir Uddin Ahmed, Prof Anwarul Islam and Prof Manzoor Rashid were also present on the occasion.

From Jobike, Founder Mehedi Reza, Co-Founder Mohmmad Azharul Qudrat Khan, Business Development Specialist Istiaque Ahmed and Operations Manager Sheuly Akter were present among other officials.
To avail the service, users have to download Jobike from app store first and then open account using relevant information. The service top-up is available at customer service centre in the campus.

Jobike Founder Mehedi Reza said the bicycle sharing service has already gained popularity across the world and Jobike made happen it in Bangladesh due to rapid development in technology sector is recent times.
Mehedi also expressed gratitude to the SUST authorities to welcome Jobike in the university which will ease the intra-campus movement of students.

Earlier in June 18 last year, Jobike started its journey as country’s first bicycle service with a test run in Cox’s Bazar while made campus launching in Jahangirnagar University and Chittagong University last year. The service hit Dhaka streets in early January this year through Mirpur DOHS operations.

Its’ may mention that the firm also provided the app-based service at zero charge in refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar as a part-of its social corporate responsibility.
