iDEA project under ICT Division is assisting educational institutions in conducting online classes.

iDEA project under ICT Division is assisting educational institutions in conducting online classes.

The inaugural ceremony of online class activities was organized at Dhaka Residential Model College through online video conferencing by the “Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Academy (iDEA) project” of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) under the ICT Division on Monday, June 1, 2020. The iDEA project is providing technical support for this online class. From now on, classes of ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth classes will be taken online. Each class will be continued for 60 minutes with 45 minutes of teaching and the remaining 15 minutes of question and answer (Q&A) sessions. Students will be provided with the routine of the class and the necessary materials in advance. The Startup Bangladesh-iDEA project is also going to start creating an online platform to deliver the same service through online management and with the help of startups in different educational institutions across Bangladesh centering on that education sector.

Hon’ble State Minister of ICT Division Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak MP was present as the Chief Guest at the inaugural function held online. The ICT Division has been working in collaboration with the country’s education, health, and food management since the time when the country was in crisis due to the deadly coronavirus attack. As part of this, a platform called “Food for Nation” for food, “Health for Nation” for health, and “Education for Nation” for education was formed, said the Hon’ble State Minister. Due to the Corona situation, the epidemic that we have to deal with all over the world may not be short-lived but it may be long. So, we have no alternative but to adapt to this new changing world as well as use information technology to get used to it. And technology is the only driving force, especially in all areas of business, including education and health. We want to spread the model of this online education system from every city to every village and from the center to every place. The Hon’ble State Minister further said that not only during the Corona Virus situation but also in the future, we will continue our efforts to make the education system equally gifted to all without any discrimination using modern technology.

The Senior Secretary of ICT Division Mr. N M Zeaul Alam PAA, the Secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Division of Ministry of Education Md.Mahbub Hossain and Executive Director of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) Mr. Parthapratim Deb were present as special guests of the program. Such an initiative will play a positive role in the field of education, said the Senior Secretary of ICT Division Mr. N M Zeaul Alam PAA. Md.Mahbub Hossain, the Secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Division of Ministry of Education, said that the positive experience of launching this online education program with Dhaka Residential Model College will soon encourage other educational institutions to run similar initiatives in phases. The Executive Director of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) Mr. Parthapratim Deb, said such ICT-based initiatives from the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) would continue in the future.

The Principals of Dhaka Residential Model College Brigadier General Kazi Shameem Farhad, ndc, psc presided over the function and thanked the ICT Division, including the iDEA project, for their cooperation in managing the education system online. Different emergency services and steps are being taken regularly from the ICT division to deal with the Corona situation. The Project Director (Additional Secretary) of the iDEA Project Syed Mojibul Huq said that if any educational institution is interested in conducting online education activities, it may take technical assistance including advice from iDEA project. He said in his welcome address that all these initiatives of the iDEA project would play a significant role in tackling the Corona situation.

Kazi Hossain Ara, Deputy Project Director (Deputy Secretary) of iDEA Project, Mehedi Hasan Bhuiyan, Technology Management Specialist of the project, Consultant of iDEA Project Monirul Islam, Omar Farooq, Dewan Adnan, Shohag Chandra Das, project officials Md. Mofakkharul Islam Mim, Momenul Islam and other senior officials of ICT Division including teachers of Dhaka Residential Model College were present at this online program.
