ICT Expo 2015  kicks off

Bangladesh ICT Expo, the largest showcasing of hardware technology started at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the city today.

Mohammad Abdul Hamid , President Republic of Bangladesh inaugurated the three day technology carnival with the motto of “ Meet the Digital Bangladesh”. Besides of him ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP, ICT Secretary ShyamSundarShikder, Imran Ahmed, MP Ministry of post and telecommunication & ICT division , Harunur Rashid, Additional Secretary of ICT BCS Secretary General Nazrul Islam Milon, ICT Expo-2015 Convenor Muzibur Rahman Swapon were also present at the inauguration ceremony while BCS President AHM Mahfuzul Arif has delivered the welcome speech. The inaugural ceremony was presided over by the honourable state Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak.

In his speech as the chief guest President said BCS ICT-Expo-2015 will expedite the efforts to promote IT sector in the country by exhibiting new innovations on ICT. “The government is relentlessly working to build a middle income country by 2021 by materializing the dream of building “Digital Bangladesh”.

The president said “a notable progress already has been made in the field of ICT as the government is implementing various programmes to create IT skilled people and ICT based public services are helping establish governance in the country.

“The government is working to centralising some 25000 government offices of 58 ministries/departments/directorate at districts and upazila levels to national network is near to finalise under Bangla Govnet and Info Sarkar, phase-2 projects. All the public services will be easier through e-services at government offices then,” Premier of the republic focused on state’s planning in ICT sector.

Pesidentsaid,”Some 14,700 young people are trained under the ‘Learning and Earning’ projects with an aim to develop earning capacity of youth through ICT at urban area. Government will provide training to more 55,000 youths through the projects,”

AS special guest ICT State Minister said,” The main target of the expo is to represent the sustainable development of flourishing technology industries in the country. We designed our exposition in different to bring new dimension in Bangladeshi technology sector. ICT division of Ministry of Post Telecommunication and Information Technology joins hands with our initiative here”

“The expo will showcase the progress of Bangladesh in hardware and manufacturing sector in the country. This is the biggest ever exposition of technology based gadgets and services as well as digital life style in Bangladesh,” State Minister added.

ICT SecrateryShyamSundarSikdar said, the ICT Expo is the biggest ever technology event in the country. The exposition will be a centre of product producers, sellers and buyers as well.

“The exposition will bring opportunity to enjoy the synchronisation of all stacks of technology driven Bangladesh here” adder ICT Secretary.

BCS President AHM Mahfuzul Arif said,” We are going to achieve a technology lead Bangladesh. There will be need joint effort form state and private sector as well. We want to recognise our own innovations and promote young minds in technology sectors through the exposition.”

BCS President termed the expositions as a platform to divert Bangladesh from “Technology Consumers to “Technology Producer”.

Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS), the apex trade body of technology industry and ICT division of Ministry of Post Telecommunication organised the three-day event to promote Bangladeshi hardware manufacturing sector, according officials. the technology carnival to promote the Made in Bangladesh theme in technology world.

There will be held some 10 seminars on specific issues including Cloud Computing, Digital Marketing, E-Health, Hardware; Challenges and way forward, Outsourcing, Entrepreneurship, Cyber Security etc. More than 100 number of exhibitors are showcasing their product and service at the expo.

Besides, a conference titled “Future Entrepreneur Conference” to promote the young start-ups in technology business will be here.

The technology loving people will get opportunity to take part in Digital Photo Contest, Selfie Contest, Gaming Contest, Drawing contest for Children.

With the subject of Future dream device, there will be held a drawing competition in two categories on June 16 on 4 PM at the event place. The registration for contest is available here ictexpo.com.bd.

Bangladesh Computer Council, Access to Information Programme under Prime Minister Office, Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), Internet Service Provider Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB), Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Forum are the main associates of BSC here.
