Huawei Seeds for the Future Grand Finale

Huawei, a global leader in information and communication technology (ICT) solutions, organized the closing ceremony of the ‘Seeds for the Future’ talent developing program on 11th June 2015 at the Eden Ballroom, Amari Dhaka Hotel in Gulshan. Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Honourable State Minister for ICT division, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology will attend the event as the chief guest.

“Seeds for the Future” is a Huawei`s global talent developing program. Huawei has been organizing this event globally since 2008 and this is the first time Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) is individually organizing such event in the country. The main purpose of the competition is to encourage young students to come up with new ideas and ICT solutions on the theme of Enriching people’s life through “E-Service”, said Zhangmingwen, Chief Operating Officer of Huawei Technologies Bangladesh. Huawei has selected top 10 winners among 500 Plus students’ presentations from five universities through judges panel comprising of faculty members and experts from Huawei, he said.

These final 10 winners of the competition will have the opportunity to visit Huawei Headquarter in China to participate in various knowledge sharing and learning sessions in Mid August.

Mr. Zhao Haofu, CEO of Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Ltd, said, “I just came to Bangladesh last week and of course starting to learn everything about the country especially ICT industry. One thing has really surprised me a lot is that I found Bangladesh has such a clear and sustained ICT development policy and country vision which knows as “Digital Bangladesh”. I can tell you that I have hardly seen such initiative in other developing countries. It will not be wrong to say even comparing with developed countries, such kind of policy and visions are yet to comprise the way Bangladesh Government has done it.”

Zhao Haofu also said: “Thanks to Honorable Minister again for leading this MACROPOLICY which give all of us a good environment to contribute to this country and its society. For this good policy- with a strong leadership hand from you honorable Minister, along with High quality of Engineering education from different universities in country, Huawei is confident to contribute more to the ICT Development of the country and its society.”

The ICT and telecommunication sector is a vibrant sector in Bangladesh and this sector is playing a significant role in economic development and job creation in the country. Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Ltd has created almost 800 jobs directly and 10,000 plus indirectly in the country, of which 90 percent are local people. Huawei also sees an immense growth of ICT industry in Bangladesh in coming days as the country has more than 160 million people and most of them are young generation and very tech-savvy.
