bKash Limited, the largest mobile financial service provider in the country signed an agreement with West Zone Power Distribution Company Limited (WZPDCL) recently allowing the customers of the power distribution company to pay their electricity bill through bKash.
Abdul Motaleb, Company Secretary of WZPDCL and MasrurChowdhury, Head, Alternative Channel of bKash exchanged the agreementon behalf of their respective organisations at a program held at the WZPDCL head office in Khulna recently. Engr. Md. ShafiqueUddin, Managing Director,R. K. Debnath, Executive Director, Finance of WZPDCL and Md. Murshiduzzaman, Regional Sales Manager of bKashwere present at the ceremony.
The deal facilitates WZPDCL customers to pay theirbill 24/7 at the comfort of their homes. Bill paymentthrough bKashis expected to save time and costs of the customers as well as bring efficiency in the bill collection system.
bKash will launch the service soon after technical integration with WZPDCL.
WZPDCL, an enterprise of Bangladesh Power Development Board, distributes electricity in 21 Districts and 20 Upzilas under Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions. The company has around 11 lakh postpaid and 70 thousand prepaid customers.
Launched in 2011, bKash, a joint venture of BRAC Bank, US based Money in Motion, International Finance Corporation of World Bank Group, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and China based Ant Financial(Ali Pay) , an affiliate of Alibaba Group offers broad range of mobile financial services to the common people of Bangladesh.
